Looks like NBC Sports is coming to Universal Orlando Resort as a restaurant concept.
A member of theme park site OrlandoUnited.com found a business license filed by Universal City Development Partners Ltd. with the state of Florida for a restaurant operating under the name of “NBC Sports Grill Brew.”
The address of the restaurant is Universal’s main address of 1000 Universal Studios Plaza, which means the restaurant could be located anywhere on the property. However, chatter from many that follow the theme parks think it is the replacement of the former NASCAR Sports Grille at CityWalk that closed last November.
Universal Orlando has been quiet on what would replace the former NASCAR restaurant, but bringing a new eatery to the dining and entertainment complex makes sense as it helps to extend the stay on property for guests looking for a meal after leaving the parks.
The license is for a “permanent food service,” which hints to rumors that an NBC-themed restaurant would most likely find a home at CityWalk. Check out an image of the license above.
One of the past rumored restaurant concepts was something similar to the existing NBC Sports Arena — an all-sports venue with American cuisine — at Xfinity Live! entertainment complex in Philadelphia, which is partly owned by Universal Orlando’s parent company, Comcast Corp. NBC Sports Arena advertises itself as a restaurant with a theatre-like layout where guests’ tables face large TV screens optimizing the sports-viewing experience.
I’ve reached out to Universal Orlando for any comment. Check back later for more.
